Black Stars forward, Hafiz Konkoni moments ago sealed a permanent move to Yanga SC in Tanzania. In a shocking twists which has brought great jubilation in the camp of Yanga and seen as a slap on the face of rivals Simba, the strong attacker turned down the chase of Hearts of Oak and Simba to sign for the yellow and greens.
The prolific attacker is joining the Citizens on a two-year deal from Ghana Premier League side, Bechem United, Ghanasportspage.com can exclusively confirm.
Konkoni was a top target of Accra Hearts of Oak but the Rainbows failed to convince him for his signature.
The 24-year-old striker appeared as one of the strikers in the Ghana Premier League during his time with Bechem United.
He joined the Hunters in 2018 before sealing a move to Alsancak Yesilova in Cyprus.
Konkoni returned to Ghana to rejoin Bechem United after the 2019/20 saeson and became the main attacker of the team.
His brilliant performance earned him a maiden call-up to the Black Stars last month ahead of Ghana’s AFCON qualifier clash against Madagascar.
Konkoni’s invitation to the national makes him the first local player to join the four-time African under Chris Hughton, who took over from Coach Otto Addo.
He played 26 matches and scored 15 goals for the Hunters in the just-ended Ghana Premier League campaign.
