The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) has in collaboration with the worldwide players’ Union FIFPRO, successfully led arbitration processes culminating in the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) annulling sanctions imposed on some 21 Ghanaian footballers.
The players in question, were alleged to have been involved in manipulating the result of the matchday 34 Ghana Premier League encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium between AshGold SC and Inter Allies FC in the 2020/2021 season.
The Lusanne-based court overturned all punishments imposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on the afore-mentioned players thanks to an appeal to CAS submitted by the PFAG through the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro).
Thursday’s landmark ruling has now completely repealed all penalties originally imposed on the players thus clearing the way for them to fully and freely compete on the domestic scene without any lingering burdens after being slapped with the sanctions for several months by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA.
The PFAG, as mother body for all professional footballers in the country, continues to champion the rights and best interests of all our members.
The Association also wishes to extend its thanks to all parties involved in this amicable resolution process.
As always, the PFAG stands with the players and for the players!
