Northern Regional second tier champions of the 2022/2023 season Northern City FC have appointed the CEO of Ghana Sports Page 1 (GSP1) Media, Martin Tawiah as International Relations Officer as part of the club’s quest to attain top branding as they are birthed into their first division football campaign.
Northern City FC were crowned champions of the 2022/2023 Northern Regional Division Two season after beating Kasalgu Arrow Heads in the final of the Middle League on July 8. The Tamale based side have now been promoted to the first division, Zone One of the National Division One League (DOL) and will taste their maiden season as the 2023/2024 season starts.
Martin Tawiah, a seasoned Ghanaian Sports Journalist now based in China, has now been appointed International Relations Officer of the newly promoted Division side, and will as well double as Head of Media team. Owned by the Assistant coach of the senior national football team, the Black Stars, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, Northern City FC plays their home matches at Kukuo near Bimbila in the Tamale area, were formed in 2016 as a means of gathering source of employment for talented footballers in the community, as well as adding to the joy football offers the township.
Reacting to his appointment, the Berekum College of Education graduate Martin expressed delight over the new position he has landed among assurances of excellent delivery of a pivotal role in the club’s aim of qualifying to the elite division of Ghana football.
“I am so happy for this appointment and I will do my best to help brand the newly promoted side, Northern City FC”, Martin told ghanasportspage.com in an interview.
As a newly appointed member of the Management of the club, Martin Tawiah expressed confidence in the competency of the Management and believes his inclusion would augment their efforts to help the club gain promotion to the premier league within the first season of playing in the Division One league.
”Since I will join the Management team I think we would put proper measures together as a team to brand the club in terms of team bus, kits among others. On my part I think we would do a good job to make the team very attractive for everyone to like it, and as the Division One League will soon start, we would try to qualify and play in the Ghana Premier League next season”, he concluded.
Martin Tawiah, the GSP1 Media CEO is a football, and to a larger extend sports enthusiast who has followed Ghana football for years throughout his career as a sports broadcaster. He has formerly worked sports broadcaster at Success FM (90.9) in Goaso and later joined Fox 97.9 FM in Kumasi before moving to China where he has been a professional English Teacher in addition to his broadcasting works through his own media channel, GSP1.
His expertise in football administration and in sports in general is expected to help elevate Northern City FC to greater heights.
