The National Sports Authority [NSA] has announced that Baba Yara Stadium has been closed temporarily effective Friday, August 4, 2023, for renovation purposes.
The objective is to renovate the entire stadium to its newest state as Ghana prepares to host the Central African Republic in the last group fixture of the AFCON qualifier and the Baba Yara sports stadium is certainly one of the venues to host the game.
“The Baba Yara Sports Stadium pitch is closed for football and other sporting activities until Ghana VS Central African Republic game on September 7,” Mr Emmanuel Appiah, the NSA’s Ashanti Regional Director told Akoma FM.
The last Group E match of the 2023 AFCON qualifications is slated to feature the Central African Republic and the Black Stars. After playing five matches, Ghana is top of Group E with 9 points.
To qualify for the 2023 AFCON, Ghana must at least earn a point against the Central African Republic next month.

The Black Stars will open camp in Accra before departing to Kumasi for the game. The game has been scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT on September 7, 2023.
