Remo Stars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede has admitted that his team does not have sufficient information about their CAF Champions League opponent, Medeama SC ahead of their first-leg clash on Sunday and it’s very bad news for them.
“The preparation is ongoing, as I told you we don’t have any information about the team (Medeama SC) and this is not good news for us because playing against a team and having no information about them but nevertheless, in our own way, we are preparing and hopefully shouldn’t let this discourage us”, Daniel Ogunmodede told the leading sports page in Ghana, Ghanasportspage.com in an interview on Wednesday.
“I have told you the biggest challenge is that, we are unable to get information about Medeama SC, any tactical information about Medeama SC has been difficult for us to get and this is the biggest challenge for us. Apart from that, there is no other issue at Camp” he stated.
“we coming in for our regular plans, basic plans of playing a regular match”. Football is not a do-or-die affair but it’s normal for the fans to say do or die fairs both the clubs and West African football soil, it’s normal in football.
“Imagine, Machester City and Manchester United are playing on Manchester soil, it’s a derby so it’s obvious the fans will take it as do or die affair but for me as a coach, it’s not a do-or-die affair”, he concluded.
Remo Stars played in the CAF Confederation Cup last season only to lose out to ASFAR of Morocco in the first round and will be hoping for a memorable outing this time around.
The two teams were paired together for their respective maiden appearance in the upcoming competition. The first leg of the contest has been scheduled to take place at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday 20th August 2023 in Ghana with the second leg to hold in Nigeria a week later.
