The new Hearts of Oak head coach Martin Koopman was briefly in charge of the Maldives national men’s football team between January 2020 and June 2021.
The Dutch trainer did not win any of his three matches played as Maldives head coach. He lost two games and drew the other one before quitting the job.
Since June 2021 , Hearts of Oak is his first job as he gets ready to lead the Phobians in the upcoming Ghana Premier League season.

As a matter of fact , Koopman has won just one game in his last 13 matches since January 2017 as coach of Aruba and Maldives combined.
That win came on 9th September 2018 ; 3-1 win against Bermuda.
The Phobians were nearly relegated from the Ghana Premier League last season and are very determined to correct their mistakes this season.
