Medeama leading goal scorer of last season Jonathan Sowah was on target in the first official match of the Yellow and Mauves in the 2023/24 season as he justifies the hype around his name.
Sowah ended the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season with 12 goals as the 4th top scorer and he is continuing from where he left off last season.
Reigning Ghana champions Medeama SC recorded a first-leg advantage in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League by defeating Nigerian outfit Remo Stars.
The tightly contested match took place at the Cape Coast stadium on Sunday, ending in a 1-0 win for the Yellow and Mauves.
Medeama’s persistent efforts were rewarded in the 22nd minute when Jonathan Sowah found the back of the net, giving his team the much-needed lead. Despite their dominance, Medeama failed to extend their lead before half-time, as Remo Stars managed to hold their ground and maintain composure.

As the clock ticked down, Remo Stars intensified their attacks, taking control of the final moments of the match. Despite their dominance, they couldn’t break through Medeama’s defensive lines.
The focus now shifts to the second leg of the tie, scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars stadium in Nigeria’s Ogun State next week. Medeama will aim to secure their qualification to the next round of the Champions League, where they will face off against Guinean giants Horoya AC.
