Former Asante Kotoko attacker Eric Kwabena BEKOE has offered a priceless piece of advice to current players of the Porcupine Warriors on how to succeed in Kumasi ahead of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.
“During our time we always did our personal training. We arrive early at the training ground and do our own training even before the main training of the whole team.” , Bekoe said on Fox FM as monitored by the Ghanasportspage.com on Saturday.
The 2007/08 Ghana Premier League top goal scorer on 17 goals continued :
Emmanuel Osei Kufffour the General was doing his own training , I was doing my own , Akwafo did his own training. I mean the likes of Harrison Afful and Inkoom all did their personal training. So our team were really strong all the time. Nobody wanted to lose their first team place. Because the moment you are out of Bashiru Hayford’s first team , then that is over for you because it will be hard for you to come back” , he added.
“This current Kotoko players should not rely on the training they will do with coach Ogum alone. I mean that two or three hours of training will not be enough for them to improve on their mistakes. That is why it is important for them to do their own training. That is how they can succeed at Kotoko. They should work hard , sleep well and avoid spending much time on social media platforms.”
“One player can have Facebook , Twitter , Instagram , Snapchat accounts and he will be on all these networks everyday. How can you get enough rest in order to deliver as a player ” , the former Petrojet striker quizzed as he concluded.
The Porcupine Warriors have pitched camp in Beposo where their pre-season is ongoing. The team plays their first two friendlies on Sunday at the Dr. K.K Sarpong stadium against lower tier sides Kharis AS and Cornerstone.
