The 2023 Ghana Football Association presidential hopeful was disqualified by the Elections Committee of the association in a decision announced on Wednesday but that has not stopped the former vice-president of the GFA from wishing the Black Stars well ahead of Thursday’s AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic.

The decision was made following the completion of the first phase of the vetting process, which involved both incumbent FA boss Kurt E.S Okraku and Afriyie.
However, the Elections Committee has now suspended all election processes in response to a court injunction obtained by King Faisal, a club relegated from the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.
King Faisal’s injunction reportedly stems from a desire for a bottom-up approach to the elections, advocating for the election of district-level leaders before top officials are chosen.
The GFA’s electoral landscape is now in turmoil, with all eyes on Afriyie’s potential appeal and the future of the elections.
