Ghana head coach Chris Hughton has confirmed that Leicester City midfielder Abdul Fatawu Issahaku will joined the Black Stars as a replacement for the injured Joseph Paintsil ahead of the crucial AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic on Thursday.
The Genk winger was ruled out of Thursday’s encounter through injury and has since returned to his Belgian side.
On Fatawu Issahaku replacing Joseph Painstil , Hughton responded as follows :
“Yes, that is true, he will join the squad. He has just joined Leicester City which is a wonderful move for him coming from Portugal where he didn’t play so much. Of course he was involved with the U-23’s in Morocco in the summer, played al, three games and I think it’s a good move for him and one that will develop his career. So yes he will join. We are hoping that he will join this evening.”
The Black Stars must avoid a home defeat today in order to make it to the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Ivory Coast.
