A former Accra Hearts of Oak player says he has doubts whether head coach Martin Koopman is fully in charge of picking the starting players at Hearts of Oak in the current league season.
Caleb Amankwah , who currently plies his trade in Ethiopia , believes the Dutch trainer should not take all the blame for the team’s poor form in the league after failing to win any of their last three matches.
“Martin Koopman is not fully in charge of picking the starting players during matches at Hearts of Oak , that is how I see it. I don’t think he is fully in charge and this is my opinion that I am sharing because if the coach is fully in charge , he would surely be using most of the experienced players. Every coach that takes up a new job makes sure he plays most of the experienced and already-existing players at the club. They watch the videos of all the old players and they decide” , Caleb Amankwah told Ghanasportspage.com in an exclusive interview.
The former Hearts of Oak center-back continued :
“But we are seeing at the club is that , some new players have arrived and so the leaders of the club want the coach to play those players because maybe they bought them with huge amounts of money but that should not be the case.”
“You recall the coach said they don’t have a striker after a drawn game this season (against Dreams FC) but look it may not be the fault of the coach because he came to meet the striker (Kashala Ramos) already bought and he may not be his type of attacker but he is forced to use him, he is a new player , and the leaders want him to play , the team wants the results , the fans want the results but look how do you expect an entirely new player who has not played the Ghana league before to start scoring the goals easily like that, it does not work that way. He needs some of the old guys around him” , Caleb explained.
