Bibiani Gold Stars midfielder Appiah McCarthy was the hero and villain in the Gold Stars 1 Hearts of Oak 1 Ghana Premier League game on Sunday.
McCarthy scored a brilliant free-kick to put his side ahead before he saw red and now he has given some explanations.
“I’m not the one who hit the linesman. I am happy the game was on Tv and I’m 100 percent sure that I will be vindicated if the video is reviewed by the GFA.”, Appiah McCarthy said.
“I am happy to get this opportunity to talk about the red again. I am a type of player who will never hit a referee. I will never do that. Tensions can go up but I will never a referee. I blame the substitute Hearts of Oak players because they were all pointing fingers at me that I was the one who hit the assistant referee but I did not even see the player who did that. I was standing near the linesman so they said I was the one who hit him but I was not the one.” , he added.
“After the game , you know we all friends , and so some of the Hearts players were calling me to pull my legs that they intentionally pointed fingers at me for the referee to punish me and they said they knew I was not the one who hit the assistant referee but it is all part of the game that is why they did that against me. But I am happy the game was on Tv and so I know I will be vindicated after they watch it again” , the former Ashantigold player added on Fox FM.
