Karela United saw a last-minute penalty saved by goalkeeper Richmond Ayi to ensure Hearts of Oak return back to the nation’s capital with a point.
Owusu Boakye edged the host ahead on the 6th minute at the Aliu Mahama Stadium but Hamzah Issah leveled for the Phobian from a corner kick before half-time.
Back from recess, the visitors mounted pressure on their opponents and made some decent attempts but failed to convert their chances to extend their winning streak following their 3-1 victory Medeama SC on week 8.
Karela also had the opportunity to silence Hearts of Oak after they were awarded a penalty in the 81st minute.
However, the club’s top-scorer Evans Adomako stepped up but saw his kick saved by Richmond Ayi.
The results keeps the Phobians 9th on the league log. Karela United also sit 14th after failing to win their last seven games.
Having held scoreless today, Hearts of Oak will hope to secure their third win of the season when they visit Hearts of Lions in their outstanding league game.
Karela United will also travel make a trip to the Accra Sports Stadium to face Accra Lions on week 10.
