Karela United returned to winning ways after beating leaders Aduana Stars in Saturday’s Betpawa Premier League game at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
Kumi Attah and Evans Adomako struck either side of the break before Gabriel Mensah pulled one back in the 70th minute.
It was first victory for Karela United in their last nine fixtures. They entered the game with two defeats and six draws in eight games.
However, their pressing caused the Fire Boys problems all day and led to the first goal recorded by Kumi Attah during the 41st minute.
Evans Adomako doubled the lead on the 60th minute before the consolidation goal from Gabriel Mensah.
Despite Saturday’s defeat, Aduana Stars remain 2 points clear on top of the table, while Karela United sit 12th.
Elsewhere, Bechem United also picked a 2-1 victory over “winless” Heart of Lions at the Hohoe Stadium.
Goals from Augustine Okrah and Gabriel Yapy Tenlep helped the Hunters to extend their unbeaten run to 7.
It has been a difficult start for Heart of Lions after securing promotion back to the Premier League.
They are yet to secure victory after 11 games – having lost four with seven draws.
And they currently sit last on the league table with 7 points.
