Mohammed Sheriff sealed a 1 – 0 win for Asante Kotoko over Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Sports on week 10 of the Betpawa Premier league.
The midfielder’s goal saw Asante Kotoko end their five-game winless streak by beating the defending champions at home.
Both sides had a number of decent chances in the first-half with the best of them falling to Medeama’s Kamaradini, after scoring from Ebenezer Nkrumah’s cross. But his goal was ruled out by the referee.
The second half provided few opportunities in front of goal during the second half and the contest was settled after Mohammed Sheriff stepped up to score from the spot.
The result helped the Reds move up to eleventh place in the table on 13 points. Medeama SC occupy the seventh position with seven points.
Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side return to action on November 24 against Legon Cities in Accra, while Medeama host Great Olympics in Tarkwa.
