Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah is optimistic about the Black Stars winning the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Ghana are on over 4 decades trophy drought and hope to break the jinx in the neighbouring country in 2024.
Appiah stated that he is outmost belief in the current squad to clinch Ghana’s long awaited 5th AFCON title.
“I am very confident that Ghana can win the Afcon,” he said during the unveiling of the TotalEnergies AFCON trophy at the TotalEnergies Headquarters in Accra, Ghana.
Reacting to the team’s recent poor form, he said it is due to development of football in many countries.
“Today football is played everywhere and that’s why you’ll find it difficult to even play Comoros.
He, however, entreated Ghana to believe in the team and charged the players to play for the National colours in the best possible way.
“We should believe in ourselves and in the team.
“They should go out there and represent Ghana the best they can,” he added.
The 2023 AFCON is set to start from January 2024 to February.
Ghana are in Group B along with Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde.
