Nania FC have caused the first upset of the 2023/2024 MTN FA Cup after beating the Phobians 4-2 on penalties.
The one-time competition winners knocked out the most successful club in the competition at the round of 64 stage on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
The game that came off at the Kpobiman Sports Complex did not see many and thus ended goalless after regulation time.
Nania FC put on a phenomenal defensive show limiting Hearts to few opportunities. Kwadwo Oben Jnr failed to put the Phobians ahead as his effort in the first half went just wide. Nurudeen also forced a save from the goalkeeper a few minutes later.
Due to the round of 64 stage, the game headed to penalty shootouts after it ended in a stalemate.
Nania FC went on to kick out Hearts of Oak, beating them 4-3 and advance to the Round 32 stage.
