Newly-signed Bibiani Gold Stars defender, Vincent Atinga believes his former club, Medeama SC can stun Yanga SC in their upcoming meeting.
The reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League will welcome the Tanzanian giants to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday in the CAF Champions League.
Medeama head into the game joint second with Belouizdad while Yanga are yet to get a win in two matches.
The Mauve and Yellow needs a win to boost their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals after two games.
Speaking ahead of the game, Atinga said: “It will be a tough game and it won’t be easy because the visitors [Yanga SC] are like us, we have the same skin colour and they also play physical but I believe that Medeama can carry the day,” he stated in an interview with Mothers FM.
In addition, the workaholic defender said, his former club has the character to advance from the group stage.
“They have the character because when you check Felix Kyei, Kamaradini and other players, you can see that they are eager to make history. I follow them and watch their matches. I believe that they can qualify because they have the character,” Atinga divulged.
The experienced centre-back was a key man for Medeama Sporting Club in their journey to becoming Champions of the Ghana Premier League.
In his three-year stay with Medeama SC, he made 74 appearances, scoring 21 goals for the club.
Atinga will hope to make his debut appearance for the Gold Stars when they Nsoatreman FC in the matchday 13 games at DUN’s Park on Sunday, December 3.
Atinga has also had stints with Kuwaiti clubs Qadsia SC and Al Shabab alongside Albanian side KF Tirana.
