President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt E.S Okraku has in a pot shared on Facebook expressed disappointment in tne National Sports Authority led by Professor Peter Twumasi following the closure of the Accra Sports Stadium for musical concerts.
The unavailable of the ‘Nation’s Wembley’ affected the highly-anticipated clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko, which was played last weekend at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. It also has implications on Sunday’s clash between Great Olympics and Asante Kotoko.
Elsewhere, Dreams FC have also relocated their continental matches to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after the announcement.
In a Facebook post, Kurt Okraku said: “What the NSA has done to football and sports in this month should never happen again. It’s just not acceptable.”
The NSA’s decision to close the Accra Stadium is rooted in the NSA’s recent strategic shift towards revenue generation from non-sporting activities. While leveraging the facility’s popularity during the festive season, it also disrupts the traditional use of the stadium for football matches during this period.
The facility has been booked for the Freedom Wave musical show by Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, and the BHIM concert by Stonebwoy, both scheduled for this month.
