Former Black Stars manager, James Kwasi Appiah, has advised high-ranked nations not to underestimate the lower countries at the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
According to Kwasi Appiah, many countries have developed their football at a fast pace and thus are no more underdogs.
Speaking with ghanasportspage.com, he predicted that due to the development of football in many countries, there will be many surprises in the tournament.
“I’ve talking about the evolution of football since 2013. Because now you can’t underrate any team. At the moment, everyone is developing very fast, hence, there is no need to underrate anybody. You need to be psychologically, physically, and mentally prepared to give your all against every team and get the win.” Appiah told ghanasportspage.com.
“I think they might be surprised at this coming AFCON. Those who prepare well will have a good tournament.”
The 2023 AFCON is set to start from January 13 to February 11, 2024, in Ivory Coast.
The last two editions of the tournament have seen Madagascar and The Gambia make the quarter-finals on their debut in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
