Egyptian winger, Mohammed Salah says his aim is to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations with Egypt.
Egypt, the most successful team in the AFCON history have been housed in Group B with Ghana, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
Liverpool beat Newcastle 4-2 in the English Premier League to extend their lead on the table by three points. Mohammed Salah scored a brace to help Livepool in their title chase. The game was Salah’s last for Liverpool ahead of the AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
Speaking after the game, the captain for Egypt says he will be happy to see his nation lift the trophy for the eighth time and that he believes Liverpool will be fine without him while he is away.
“Going to AFCON? I want to win it! I love playing for my country. Without me they (Liverpool) will be fine. We have fantastic players. We believe too much. We have top talents. They just need to work hard”. He told Sky.
Salah led Egypt to the finals of the last edition of the AFCON in Cameroon but were beaten by Sadio Man’s Senegal.
