West Ham winger, Mohammed Kudus is currently in Ghana ahead for the AFCON 2023 but is yet to join the Black Stars camp according to the GFA spokesperson, Henry Asante Twum.
Kudus was named in Chris Hughton’s final list for the AFCON to be staged in Ivory Coast but is yet to join the team due to a slight injury he is nursing.
In an interview with GTV, Henry Asante Twum confirmed that the 23-year-old has arrived in Ghana and he is in Accra. He assured fans that he will join the team before the team leaves for Ivory Coast.
“Mohammed Kudus is in Accra ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations. According to the Technical Team, he needs rest after picking up a strain. He will join the team before they depart for the AFCON.” He said.
This also means Mohammed Kudus will miss Ghana’s friendly game with Namibia today at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.
Ghana are in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique. The Black Stars will play their first game against Cape Verde on 14th January 2024.
