Head Coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, Chris Hughton says Ghana has a chance of winning the AFCON tournament to be staged in Ivory Coast.
Ghana have clinched the prestigious trophy on four occasions but have never lifted it again over 40 years.
However, the former Tottenham Hotspurs manager believes Ghana can win the tournament if things go as planned for the team.
His words follows Ghana’s goalless draw at home against Namibia in a friendly game.
“I certainly don’t want to be a head coach of a team that doesn’t think that we have a chance of winning it. in a post-match interview. That has to be the mentality going into the tournament but we know we have to play well.
Things have to go our way, we have to be fortunate with injuries and we have to be very optimistic that we can do very well.” He said.
Ghana would have to qualify from Group B which has Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique before they can lift the trophy.
