Former Ghanaian international, Malik Jabir has urged the Black Stars of Ghana to take their preparations serious than prayers ahead of the upcoming AFCON in Ivory Coast.
According to the captain of the victorious Black Stars team that defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria 3-2 in a FIFA World Cup qualifier in the year 1973, the secret behind their success was all about good preparations but not prayers.
“Preparation comes first before prayers. Prayers cannot help you without good preparations. Just forget about winning it if you are not prepared.
“You only have some few days to prepare for the games at the tournament. Playing against the likes of Egypt and Morocco is very difficult when you are not good,” Malik Jabir stated in an interview with Accra-based Mothers FM.
The Black Stars touched down in the Ivorian captain, Abidjan, in the afternoon of Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Chris Hughton’s side are paired in Group B and will, therefore, face Egypt, Mozambique and Cape Verde in the group stage of the AFCON.
The Black Stars will, however, open their campaign in the Ivory Coast with a tricky test against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14.
