Former Ghana Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi has advised Ghana boss Chris Hughton on team selection needed to win the AFCON trophy.
Ghana after 42 years will hope to win this year’s AFCON to be staged in Ivory Coast.
Nyantakyi, who led Ghana to at least six AFCONS and three World Cups as GFA boss says Hughton should be bold enough and have trust in the young players.
“If we have courageous coaches, we will do well. Sometimes coaches may be persuaded by big names but it’s always not about that. Chris Hughton should take a cue from the Angola experience where young players were fielded and we went all the way to the finals.” He told Starr FM.
“If you have players with speed, skills and stamina, I believe we can do well and I think that is what the coach should do. I believe that with this, we can win the trophy,” he added.
Ghana will begin their campaign against Cape Verde on Sunday before taking on Egypt and Mozambique.
