GSP1 rounds up all the completed signings made by three Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC for the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

The transfer window was closed on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 23:59 GMT.

ASANTE KOTOKO NEW SIGNINGS

1. EMMANUEL KOTEI

The Porcupine Warriors announced the signing of the 26-year-old right back on Monday.

Kotei joins the club from Nsoatreman FC on a three year deal. He arrives with Premier League experience from his previous stint with Tamale City.

“Kotoko is every player’s dream and, finally, mine has been realized. As a local boy, having the opportunity to wear our colours means everything to me.” Kotei told the club’s media.

2. FATAWU SAFIU

The attacker has joined the Kotoko on a contract until January 2026.

Salifu first played for the club during the 2018-2019 season, scoring 13 goals in sixteen games, including some spectaculars in the CAF Confederation Cup.

He emerged as the best player and top scorer of the NC’s special competition. His return forms part of Coach Ogum’s aim of securing a return to the CAF Champions League.

“I am very excited about this opportunity,” he said.

“Everyone knows Kotoko is the club that I support and as a youngster it was my dream to play for Kotoko and to get that opportunity twice makes me feel lucky and ready to do everything to help the team.”

ACCRA HEARTS OF OAK

1. SHARIF SHUAIB – GOALKEEPER

Hearts have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of acquisition of Sharif Shuaib.

The young goalie who hails from Hohoe has been tipped to excel once the opportunity is handed to him in the goalpost.

Shuaib was a former player of Inter Allies. He has long nursed the idea of joining the biggest club in the country, and when the opportunity to join Hearts of Oak presented itself, he never wasted time in deciding on his future.

The management of Hearts of Oak based on technical advice needed to strengthen the goalkeeping department and to position the team in a perfect position to continue to fight for the ultimate in the Premiership.

Shuaib’s journey to joining Hearts of Oak is a remarkable one. He started playing football at a very young age, and his talent was quickly noticed by his coaches and fellow players. He worked hard and honed his skills.

The goalkeeper is known for his quick reflexes and excellent shot-stopping abilities. Shuaib’s arrival at Hearts of Oak is not just about the team’s success on the field. It also serves as an inspiration to young footballers in Ghana.

2. KWESI NKETIAH – GOALKEEPER

The young goalkeeper joins from Susubribi FC on a two-and-a-half-year deal and has already been welcomed with open arms by the Phobia community.

Nketiah’s addition to the team’s goalkeeping department comes as good news as the club continues to strengthen that department ahead of the resumption of the second round of the Ghana Premier League.

Nketiah, who hails from the Central Region of Ghana, started his football career at a young age at Soccer Intellectuals before moving to Avenue Soccer Academy and then to Susubiribi FC where he made steady progress. He caught the eye of many with his impressive performances for Susbiribi FC. Nketiah’s talent and potential were evident, and it was only a matter of time before he got his big break.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper’s journey to Hearts of Oak was not an easy one. He had to be observed by scouts before finally impressing the technical team and earning a spot in the team’s goalkeeping department. Nketiah’s signing has been hailed as a significant move for the club, considering his physique and intelligence in goal.

Nketiah’s arrival brings hope and excitement to the club and its fans. He is a young and talented goalkeeper with a strong presence in the box. His agility, reflexes, and shot-stopping abilities have been praised by many who have observed him.

Nketiah’s signing also adds depth to the club’s goalkeeping department, which will create healthy competition among the goalkeepers and push them to improve.

Nketiah’s signing is not only significant for Hearts of Oak, but it also reflects the club’s commitment to nurturing young talents. His signing has brought a renewed sense of hope and optimism to the Hearts of Oak camp. The young goalkeeper’s addition to the team’s goalkeeping department is a step in the right direction.

Nketiah will wear his favourite jersey number “1” with the inscription at the back “ NKETIAH”.

3. KWADWO OSEI BONSU – GOALKEEPER

Bonsu had a successful medical examination two weeks ago and is set to fight for the number one spot.

He has a track record at WAFA and Berekum Chelsea.

Hearts, cognizant of the crucial role a reliable goalkeeper plays, anticipates that the addition of Osei Bonsu will bring stability to their goalkeeping department. They hope this move will contribute to an improved overall performance as they navigate the challenges of the football season.

MEDEAMA SPORTING CL

1. DIAWISIE TAYLOR – ATTACKER

Medeama have reached an agreement with Diawisie Taylor to join the club on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

Taylor, 24, is joining the Ghana Premier League champions on a two-year deal.

He is expected to bolster the attacking capabilities of the team as we aim to defend the Premier League title.

The striker is expected to arrive in Tarkwa today (Monday) January 8, 2024 to complete formalities and begin his adventure.

Diawisie Taylor, a 24-year-old forward, gained attention in the Ghanaian top flight during his stint with Karela United where he was a cult hero.

His prolific performance in the 2020/21 season, where he scored 18 goals, earned him the coveted goal king accolade.

Subsequently, Taylor secured a move to Egyptian side Future FC, followed by a stint with Al Merrikh in Sudan.

He is expected to form strike partnership with leading marksman Jonathan Sowah.

2. KWASI OSEI – DEFENDER

Kwaku Osei joins the Ghana Premier League champions on a permanent contract after completing formalities.

The experienced defender spent a number of years at Karela United before finally making the switch to Tarkwa.

He is expected to bring competition and stability at the back amid the side’s recent struggles.

He previously worked under Evans Augustine Adotey at the Pride and Passion.

“Medeama is a great club and I’m happy to be part of this club,” Osei told medeamasc.org.

“I already feel at home as I have been welcomed immensely by the coaches and my teammates and everyone at the club.

“It’s time to get down to business and contribute my quota to the success of the team. It’s a fantastic platform for me and I hope to make it count.”

Kwaku Osei has started training with the group and now available for selection in the Premier League after we crushed out of the Ghana FA Cup.

3. FATAWU SULEMANA – DEFENDER

Sulemana has rejoined his former club.

The left-back joined Sudanese club Al Merreikh SC just a year ago but has joined the Tarkwa-based club on a two year-deal due to political instability in Sudan.

“It’s exciting to be back to Tarkwa. The situation meant I returned home to continue with my career,” Sulemana told medeamasc.org

“Reintegrating into the team has been made easy because I spent three years here before. The current group is very promising and I hope to play a major part in our ambitions this season.” He added.

Fatawu Sulemana played for Medeama two seasons before departing for Sudan. In the 2021/22 season, he played 11 games for Medeama.
