Some sports journalists and Football-loving fans in Ghana demonstrators against the Ghana Football Association yesterday, 14th February 2024.
Some protesters at the ‘Save Ghana Football’ demonstrations have called on football authorities to vacate their positions if they can’t fix the Black Stars.
They have presented their petition to the various sections of football governing bodies, including Parliament, Ghana Football Association, sports ministry, supporters unions, and National Sports Authority (NSA)
Some of the demonstrators’ contents are; that all national team coaches must be provided with a contract and be paid just as the Black Stars of Ghana. They also want the government to invest in school sports, technical development, infrastructure, and grass-root football.
Again, they want the FA, and the ministry to provide proper accountability after a competition has been done l.
“The GFA manages the national teams in trust of Ghanaians. For accountability and transparency purposes, we are calling for an extensive investigation into all the monies( FIFA & CAF and sponsorships) that have come to the GFA in the last five years”, they stated it in their petition submitted to the Parliament of Ghana yesterday. Below are some of their petitions submitted to the parliament:
The above-mentioned petitions were successfully and elaborated.
“First of all, I want to commend my colleagues sports journalists who are out of passion and the love of the country out of patriotism come together to present this petition. Particularly for sustaining interest in the crusade to help put matters in proper perspective and to get our football back on track.
Mr. I must emphasize that I can not be business as usual. There are critical actions that must be taken. Football has an interface in our economy. It has an interface in many aspects of our lives.
“The problem is not just about changing the coaches so let not the GFA think that they can dilute anybody to believe that changes in coaches solve the problems.
“No, all is not well. However, how come the women’s national team is improving and winning matches? Let’s all be humble to accept that, there is something wrong with the running of our national team, Black Stars.
“I hear all the statements about reform, but I can not just be the only reform.
Even if we have to interfere to attract the sanction of FIFA, then we must do it to save our football. Football, which is the brand, has been destroyed, and it should not happen at this time as we are leaders”, Annoh-Dompreh boldly told the Parliament.
