The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has made a U-turn on appointing Otto Addo as Black Stars head coach.
Ghanasportspage.com understands that the GFA decided after a public uproar against reports on the German-based trainer being considered for the job again.
In a twist of the event, sources also tell ghanasportspage.com that Asante Kotoko Prosper Ogum Narteh has been mentioned and could be part of the soon-to-be-appointed technical team of the Black Stars.
The Black Stars head coach search committee have submitted their report and recommendations to the Executive Council for further action.
The report was received by President Simeon-Okraku on Tuesday, February 27, 2024. The Executive Council will now review the recommendations from the search committee and decide on the next Black Stars Coach.
Once the coaching decision is resolved, the FA will engage with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as other key stakeholders for their support. The GFA dissolved the Black Stars technical team headed by Chris Hughton after Ghana’s embarrassing performance at the 2023 AFCON.
The football governing body appointed a search committee, tasking them to present a list of reputable coaches for the role.
Ghanasportspage understands that the list has been submitted but the Executive Council of the GFA are yet to deliberate on the shortlisted candidates.
