Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) President, Kudjo Fianoo has made a passionate appeal to government to invest in local football.
The veteran football administrator believes massive investment is the only way to make football attractive in Ghana.
Kudjo Fianoo made the call after the President’s Cup at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
“We have to praise Asante Kotoko for their performance but the government must invest in our local football. ASEC is a local team in Ivory Coast and they qualified for Africa. The government offered them a flight to Morocco and Kumasi.
“We should not put all our eggs into one basket. It shouldn’t be only Black Stars. The ASEC goalkeeper went to the AFCON with Ivory Coast as their third choice. Look at the quality and look at the quality of Richmond Lamptey at Kotoko. If this players are encouraged they can also delive,” he said.
ASEC Mimosae emerged as champions of the 2024 President’s Cup on Tuesday, which was held in honour of Ghana’s President, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The Ivorian club accepted an invitation from the Ghana League Clubs Association and faced off against Asante Kotoko in a thrilling encounter.
The game took place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, where Asante Kotoko failed to match the superior quality and determination of their opponents.
