Karela spokesperson, Sey Mubarak has stated that they are not frightened by Asante Kotoko’s clout ahead of their crucial Ghana Premier League matchday 20 encounter.
According to Malik, unlike other clubs, Karela is beaming in confidence for the fixture on account of their win over Kotoko earlier in the season in the MTN FA Cup.
He said they have enough quality to match the Reds, adding that the players and club have never shown signs of fear in any of their games against Kotoko.
“It is nothing special but they have a big name. Many clubs panic when they hear Kotoko but that is one thing we have not seen in our club and the players. We have good quality and we can match Kotoko on any day.”
“The reason why we are not afraid of Kotoko is that we beat them in the MTN FA Cup.”
Karela United are on a poor run of form with one win, two draws and two defeats in their last five games.
However, have a poor record against Kotoko winning only one of their last seven meetings in the league. Kotoko have won two of those while four have ended in a draw.
Kotoko heads into the game with a good run of four wins, a draw and a defeat in their last five games in the GPL.
While Karela United will be hoping for a win to boost their chancing of avoiding relegation, a win for Kotoko will take them to the top of the table.
Karela United will host Kotoko on Saturday, March 9, 2024 in Naa Sheriga Sports Complex.
