Red-hot Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala receives Uganda national team call-up
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In-form Asante Kotoko striker Steven Desse Mukwala has been recalled to the Ugandan national team ahead of the international break.

Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Joseph Put has summoned a 26-man squad for the forthcoming friendly matches against Comoros and Ghana in Marrakech, Morocco.

Mukwala has netted eight goals in 17 matches this season in the Ghana Premier League.

His last involvement came in March 2023 as Uganda took on Tanzania in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

Meanwhile, there’s no place for Uganda Premier League leading scorer Nelson Senkatuka of Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

Senkatuka leads the chase for the Golden Boot, having netted 11 goals this season.

It should be noted that the two games are set to be played in the FIFA international window of March March 18 to 26.

The first match will see Uganda take on Comoros on March 22, while the second fixture is on March 26.

The matches will be used to prepare the Uganda Cranes ahead of a busy international schedule this year, with the AFCON 2025 qualifiers coming up and FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign resuming.
