A second half goal from Agyenim Boateng denied Hearts of Oak a victory at home on week 20 of the Ghana Premier Premier League, but they can still reflect on an excellent performance after extending their unbeaten run under their new coach Aboubakar Ouattara.
It was Hearts of Oak that struck first on Monday afternoon through Salifu Ibrahim. The midfielder gave the Rainbows the lead from a precise drive with an assist from Linda Mtange in the 23rd minute.
However, the visitors weathered the storm and equalised in the 54th minute courtesy Agyenim Boateng after Heart of Oak’s poor clearance.
Eight minutes later, Salim Adams tried to restore the lead for the Phobians with a good drive but goalkeeper Cisse Tijani made a good save to keep the visitors in the game.
Both sides missed a number of clear chances in the match but it was Hearts of Oak who dominated possession.
Despite their dominance, they had to settle for a 1-1 draw after being left frustrated by struggling Bofoakwa Tano.
The Rainbows remain 8th in the table, already 3 points behind the top four. Moreover, they are four points behind Asante Kotoko who are 4th in the standings.
They will now play Dreams FC on week 21, while Bofoakwa make another trip to face Bibiani Gold Stars.
