Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has revealed plans to beat Mali and Central African Republic [CAR] in the upconing 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Speaking with the GFA media, he said he has pencilled down the lessons learnt from the two games played during the break in March, adding that having the 9 players back would change things in the subsequent games.
The German-trainer manager is of the conviction of parading a much stronger squad for games against Mali and the Central African Republic in June.
“Like I said, we got a lot of answers to a lot of open questions in these two matches. Positive but also negative answers I have to be honest and from there we will go and see like when these seven, eight, nine men who weren’t there today are back, you could have a stronger squad and this stronger squad have a big, big task to beat Mali and Central African Republic.”
Some players who were unavailable for the friendlies against Nigeria and Uganda include Kudus Mohammed, Inaki Williams, Thomas Partey, Joseph Paintsil, Gideon Mensah, Alexander Djiku, Majeed Ashimeru, and Daniel Amartey.
The manager believes missing about nine key players was significant to his team’s unimpressive showing.
“We hope that key players from this team will come back to have a strong squad in June and then we attack again,” he said.
Otto Addo steered the Black Stars to a defeat and a draw against Nigeria and Uganda respectively in his first assignment of his second stint as head coach of the senior national team.
Ghana lost 2-1 to Nigeria before sharing spoils with Uganda in a two-all draw.
