Former Ghanaian international Asamoah Gyan has endorsed Mohammed Kudus as the ideal figure to lead the Black Stars, emphasizing the midfielder’s stellar performances for both club and country.
Gyan believes that Kudus’s contributions warrant the national team to be structured around him, citing the midfielder’s exceptional form and impact on the pitch.
“Without a doubt, Mohammed Kudus,” remarked Gyan when asked about the face of the new Black Stars project. “During my era, we had several talented players, and eventually, it became my responsibility to lead.” He told Asempa FM on Wednesday.
“At present, it’s Mohammed Kudus. He stands out as the standout performer, excelling notably in Europe’s top leagues, particularly the Premier League.”
“In the African context as well, he’s the standout player showcasing remarkable performances in Europe. Therefore, our role is to offer him unwavering support.”
Kudus has made a significant impression in his debut season with West Ham United since joining from Ajax, amassing an impressive record of 12 goals and 5 assists in 36 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.
