Former Ghanaian defender, Samuel Inkoom, has offered insight into how the Black Stars can reignite fan support following a decline in enthusiasm for the national team.
While the youth national teams and the Black Queens have garnered significant affection from fans in recent times, the support for the senior national team has waned.
Inkoom highlighted the packed stadiums during matches involving the youth teams, emphasizing the vibrant atmosphere generated by passionate fans.
According to Inkoom, the key to winning back the love of the fans lies in the performance of the Black Stars on the pitch.
“They can’t do it alone without Ghanaians,” Inkoom asserted, citing the enthusiastic support witnessed during matches involving the youth national teams. “Let me give you an example, the Princesses in the final game, the U20. Look at the stadium, the atmosphere. They can’t do this without Ghanaians,” he told GH One TV.
He urged the national team and its players to give their all on the field, assuring them that Ghanaians would rally behind them in response.
I want to use this opportunity to tell the national team and the players as well, if they give everything out on the pitch, Ghanaians will support them,” he added.
“In our time, even training at the Accra Sports Stadium, the stadium was full,” Inkoom reminisced, underscoring the importance of fan support in motivating the players.
