In a significant move highlighting the Ghana Football Association’s commitment to fostering talent in women’s football, seasoned coach Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo has been named the head coach of Ghana’s Women’s U23 national team.
Tagoe-Quarcoo brings a wealth of experience to her new role, having previously guided the Black Queens to victory in the WAFU Zone B Women’s championship in 2018. Her impressive coaching credentials also include holding a CAF License A Coaching certificate, underscoring her expertise and dedication to the sport.
Moreover, Tagoe-Quarcoo has shown a strong commitment to continuous professional growth by participating in the Ghana Football Association’s capacity-building initiative in the Netherlands, further enhancing her coaching acumen.
Assisting Tagoe-Quarcoo in her coaching endeavors is Priscilla Dicxon, a highly skilled coach who holds a CAF Licence C Coaching certificate. Together, they form a dynamic coaching duo poised to lead the U23 team to success and provide a clear pathway for talented young female players to ascend to the senior national team, the Black Queens.
This strategic appointment aligns seamlessly with the Ghana Football Association’s overarching Women’s Football Strategy, which prioritizes talent development and progression. By nurturing emerging talent and fostering a supportive environment for female athletes, the GFA aims to ensure sustained success for Ghanaian women’s football on the global stage.
