The Ghana Football Association has announced the appointment of Maxwell Konadu as the head coach of Ghana’s National Male U23 team, the Black Meteors. Konadu, who currently serves as the head coach of Premier League side Nsoatreman FC, brings a wealth of experience to the role.
This appointment is a strategic move by the GFA to implement a structured developmental pathway for players, preparing them for success at the senior level. Konadu’s extensive coaching experience within Ghana’s developmental age groups, including U17 and U20 teams, makes him well-suited for the position.
Having previously won the Ghana Premier League with Asante Kotoko in 2012 and served as Assistant Coach for the Black Stars under James Kwasi Appiah and Milovan Rajevac, Konadu is a seasoned professional in Ghanaian football.
The close alignment of the Black Meteors with the senior national team, the Black Stars, adds an exciting dimension to Konadu’s new role. He will be responsible for nurturing promising players through the GFA’s developmental pathway, ensuring a steady flow of talent to the senior team.
Assisting Konadu in this crucial role is former Asante Kotoko Coach and CAF License A holder, Abdul Gazale, along with Goalkeepers Trainer Ben Owu, Team Manager Amankwah Mireku, and a team of dedicated backroom staff.
With a focus on building a competitive team for international competitions and providing strong player options for the Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu and his staff are poised to make a significant impact on Ghanaian football at all levels.
