The turmoil in Asante Kotoko seems to be unending now despite the club chalking victory in their last match to calm the nerves of worried supporters.

Kotoko had gone on 9 matches without a victory with some shocking defeats until Samatex fell on the Porcupine sword last Sunday.

That was even after the owner of the club Otumfuo Osei Tutu II held a crisis meeting with the players and officials of the club.

It seems the fabulous club are back to normal settings and preparing for an anniversary match with Olympics and a league cliffhanger with Medeama in Tarkwa.

However, Kotoko has one more problem to deal with from now until the season ends, maybe.

Kotoko’s star player Abdul Fatau Safiu, who has been at a contractual dispute with the club, has fired another salvo at Kotoko with a damning letter terminating his contract with the club.

Safiu claims Kotoko has breached several portions of the contract he signed with them and despite several correspondence with the club by himself and on his behalf by the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana(PFAG), Kotoko refused to remedy the situation, leaving him with no option than to terminate the contract for just cause.

What this means is that the player is about to launch a further attack on Kotoko as he has positioned himself to file an official complaint at the FA and seek full compensation worth his contract from Kotoko, in addition to further payments as damages suffered.

Safiu trained with Kotoko on two occasions after being unveiled in the second round but his contract was immediately and shockingly terminated with Kotoko later issuing a statement which suggested the player had shown bad faith and was even injured but hid it from the club.

Safiu was also suspected to have failed the medical test, but he insisted he passed the test and claimed to have been fully registered, which Kotoko denied, explaining the FA rejected his registration .

The PFAG intervened, but both parties failed to reach an amicable solution ,leading to the latest action.

It remains to be seen what happens after as Kotoko is said to be very angry over the latest action of Safiu, believing the player is an opportunist and being selfish, but the club will not allow it’s arms to be twisted.
