Alex Ababio, the CEO of Bofoakwa Tano, has raised concerns about his team’s potential withdrawal from the upcoming FA Cup semifinal clash against Dreams FC.
The match, slated for May 12th at the Theatre of Dreams, hangs in the balance as Bofoakwa Tano demands financial support from the organizing committee to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Ababio emphasized the necessity for the FA Cup committee to foot the bill for their journey from Sunyani to Sogakope. He made it clear that without adequate funding, Bofoakwa Tano might not be able to fulfill their fixture against Dreams FC.
“The FA Cup committee must fund our cost while travelling if they truly want us to honour our FA Cup match against Dreams FC in Sogakope. If not, there is no way we will be able to secure funding and make the trip from Sunyani to Sogakope.”
Citing concerns over the choice of venue, Ababio expressed skepticism, suggesting that Sogakope’s selection favors Dreams FC over his team. He highlighted past incidents of perceived bias against Bofoakwa Tano during matches held at the venue, particularly referencing their previous encounter with Dreams FC.
Despite acknowledging some financial support from the committee, Ababio deemed it insufficient, stating, “What matters is that, if they are willing to pay our bills, we can proceed, if not, I’m not sure we can honour the match. Even though they offer some financial assistance, it is still insufficient.”
