Ghanaian coach James Kwesi Appiah guided Sudan to another victory in a friendly encounter against Tanzania on Wednesday.
The Desert Hawks secured a 2-1 win over the Taifa Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next month.
Appiah, former Black Stars coach, was appointed as Sudan’s head coach in October 2023 on a three-year contract, aiming to revitalize football in the Northeast African nation.
He is supported by fellow Ghanaians Ignatius Osei Fosu, the former coach of Techiman Eleven Wonders and Dreams FC, and Eric Amponsah, who recently replaced Fatau Dauda as the goalkeeper’s trainer.
Sudan is setting its sights on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with important qualifiers against Mauritania on June 5 before playing South Sudan three days later.
Sudan currently sits in the second position in Group B with four points from two games, level on points with first-placed Senegal.
