Asante Kotoko SC is set to appoint Director of football next season in an attempt to address misgivings over their recent transfer strategy. A recruitment process is under way and changes are expected at the club this summer.
The Porcupines Warriors will appoint three directors who are going to be in charge of player recruitment and youth football policy.
The new directors will work with gaffer Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum to make sure they deploy a football system for the Porcupines.
Potential candidates have been identified and include former Ghana Football Association’s Technical Director, Oti Akenteng and coach Ebenezer Sefa with the Porcupines said to have advanced in talks with the two. Sources reveal that IMC member, Emmanuel Dasoberi will also be added to the team.
Asante Kotoko have endured a disappointing campaign despite their mass recruitment at the start of the current campaign. Control over signings was largely handed to coach Ogum. Sources have spoken of dissatisfaction within the hierarchy over the club’s business and will now go for director of football which will reduce coach Ogum’s influence over transfer business in the club.
It is felt that bringing in a director of football would help the sporting director, Kwesi Appiah who’s the head coach of the Sudanese national team. The latest search for a director of football is being led by Kwesi Appiah.
Asante Kotoko are currently 10th on the Ghana Premier League table with 40 points from 29 games and will next travel next to take on Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park in a matchweek 30 fixture.
