Former Accra Hearts of Oak Bernard Dong Bortey has endorsed Black Starlets coach Laryea Kingston as the right person for the Black Stars coaching job.
The ex-GPL star’s comment follows Ghana’s impressive win over Ivory Coast in the opening game of the WAFU Zone B U17 tournament on Wednesday evening.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Mothers 102.7FM, Dong Bortey disclosed that Laryea has what it takes to lead the Black Stars.
“Laryea Kingston can coach the Black Stars ‘hands down’. Is not about giving it to the former players but the one who is ready and has done it before.
“I believe that Laryea can coach the Black Stars hands down when given to him because he has transformed the national U17 team,” he stated.
Kingston’s side put up a clinical performance that saw them run out as 5-1 winners against their hapless neighbours.
The former Black Stars winger is hoping to lead the to team to the U-17 AFCON for the first time since 2017.
Black Starlets will play their next game against Benin on Tuesday.
