The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a statement regarding recent events involving the U17 squad, the Black Starlets, and their coach, Laryea Kingston, who announced his resignation during a post-match conference.
The GFA has accepted the resignation of the former Black Stars player but condemned his use of inappropriate language and failure to attend the team’s management committee meeting. Kingston also left the team bus on the way back to their base and has not returned to the team hotel.
As a result, Kingston will not lead the Black Starlets in their third-place playoff game against Nigeria on Tuesday. Instead, the assistant coaches, with the support of the GFA’s technical director, will lead the squad. The GFA emphasizes its commitment to maintaining a professional and respectful environment for all teams and employees.

RE: LARYEA KINGSTON
The Ghana Football Association has noted the decision of the Head Coach of the National U17 Team, the Black Starlets, Laryea Kingston, to leave the team following his behavior after the WAFU Zone B U17 qualifier semifinal match against Burkina Faso on May 25, 2024.
Coach Kingston announced his resignation to the players and coaching staff using inappropriate language and reiterated this in his post-match press conference. He also exited the team bus en route to the team hotel and failed to attend the evening meeting with the management committee. He has not reported back to the team hotel since.
