GPL Match Report: RTU stun Legon Cities to boost survival hopes
Real Tamale United (RTU) delivered a spirited performance on Sunday afternoon, defeating Legon Cities FC 1-0 in a crucial Week 31 contest of the Ghana Premier League.
The match, held at the Naa Sheriga Sports Complex, saw both teams striving for victory to secure the vital three points. Despite several scoring opportunities in the first half, the teams were locked in a stalemate at halftime.
After the break, RTU intensified their efforts, culminating in a decisive goal from Alhassan Mankuyeli, breaking the deadlock and putting RTU ahead. Legon Cities FC fought hard to equalize but ultimately fell short, resulting in a full-time defeat.
Despite this win, RTU remains at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League table, while Legon Cities FC stands at 11th place.
RTU must win all their remaining four games to have any hope of avoiding relegation.
