Kotoko’s next Ghana Premier League game against Accra Great Olympics will now be played at the Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
The matchday 32 clash between the Porcupine Warriors and the Accra giants was originally scheduled to be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
However, due to the closure of the Stadium, the match has now been moved to Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
“The Baba Yara Sports stadium pitch will not be available for domestic competitions until after Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic.
“The decision is to give managers of the pitch ample time to further improve its quality ahead of the qualifier, scheduled for Monday, June 10,” parts of the GFA statement said on Tuesday.
“The Ghana Premier League Matchday 32 fixture between Asante Kotoko and Accra Great Olympics will now take place at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, June 2, 2024,” the statement added.
Asante Kotoko will hope the venue change won’t affect the team as they aim for victory in a bid to strongly finish the season.
They claimed a 2-0 win over their bitterest rivals Accra Hearts of Oak over the weekend which leaves them at the 9th position on the league log.
