“No one explained anything to me” – Former Black Galaxies coach Annor Walker criticizes GFA’s handling of his dismissal after CHAN 2022
Great Olympics head coach, Daniel Annor Walker, has revealed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) failed to consult him before his dismissal following the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria.
Walker and his technical team faced heavy criticism after Ghana was eliminated in the quarter-finals by Niger, losing 0-2 at the Miloud Hadefi Stadium on January 29, 2023.
In September, the GFA announced a new technical team headed by Mas-Ud Didi Dramani without explaining the dissolution of the previous team.
“Coaching the Black Galaxies wasn’t an easy task, especially given that the team hadn’t qualified for any tournament in fourteen years. My appointment was to test my coaching abilities, and by God’s grace, I managed to qualify the team for the tournament in Algeria,” Annor Walker said in an exclusive interview with Ghanasportspage.com.
“A lot happened during the tournament, but I won’t discuss it since officials present saw everything. Things gradually got out of hand, and after returning to Ghana, no one has approached me to discuss the tournament. It’s been almost a year, and I’ve spoken to many radio stations but avoided this issue.
“If I am to be appointed to a new position or released from my post, I should be informed with satisfactory reasons. I know nothing and haven’t bothered to ask anyone, nor will I. That’s all I have to say.”
