Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala is pressing for a $4000 monthly salary before committing to extend his contract with Asante Kotoko, as confirmed by Ghanasportspage.com.
Mukwala, currently earning $2000 per month, is set to see his contract expire at the end of the season after two years with the Kumasi-based club.
Despite interest from clubs outside Ghana, Asante Kotoko is eager to keep the talented forward and has initiated negotiations for a one-year extension.
Initially demanding $5000, Mukwala later lowered his request to $4000, but the club remains hesitant to meet this figure.
Talks are ongoing, and both parties aim to resolve Mukwala’s return from national duty ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
With 14 goals, Mukwala is the second-highest scorer in the Ghana Premier League, trailing Stephen Amankona by two goals.
