Coach Kwasi Appiah and Sudan picked their second win against Mauritania in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The visitors guaranteed themselves with the maximum points with two first half goals at the Stade de la Capitale.
Saif Thierry scored the first goal for Sudan in the 15th minute.
Mauritania’s hopes of a comeback were dashed when Aly Abeid inadvertently scored an own goal in the 29th minute, doubling Sudan’s advantage.
The North African side now hold on to their top spot in Group B of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Africa with 7 points, having secured two wins with one draw in in three games.
The results from today’s game will boost Sudan’s chances of securing a spot at the World Cup and also put pressure on Senegal who face DR Congo at 7pm.
Kwasi Appiah’s side will continue their qualifying campaign with an away game against South Sudan on Tuesday.
