Spokesperson for the Ghana Football Association, Henry Asante Twum has revealed how the Nigeria national team tried to overcome the Black Stars with ‘JuJu’ during the first leg of the 2022 FIFA World Cup play-off in Kumasi.
In an interview with Asempa FM, Mr. Asante Twum mentioned that the team manager of the Super Eagles was spotted spraying an unknown substance believed to be ‘Juju’ on the bench of the Black Stars before their training session at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
“It has been going on at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. I can confirm from experience because of I have been with the team for almost four years. Sometimes it happens in front of us.”
“Prior to the World Cup play-off, we had our training before Nigeria. I was still at the stadium together with Samuel Otoo, Mr. Ansah and some few other guys when Nigeria arrived for their training session.
“The team manager and one gentleman went to the home team’s bench to spray something on it and we were just looking at them. We waited for them to leave before we also reacted to play that draw,” he stated.
In March 2022, Nigeria’s hope of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar suffered a heavy blow after playing out a 1-1 draw with Ghana in Abuj, having recorded a goalless draw in the first leg in Kumasi.
And it was Ghana who moved on to play at the 22nd edition of the World Cup.
