Accra Hearts of Oak have secured Premier League survival on the final day of the season with a 3-2 win against Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The Rainbows started the day fourth from bottom in the table, 1 points abov relegated Great Olympics.
The final day of the Premier League saw plenty of drama, even if the destination of the title had long been decided.
The relegation battle was the centre of attention for most neutrals, and it did not disappoint.
Hearts of Oak needed a win against the Hunters and for results elsewhere to go their way, but had to come from behind to pick the maximum points.
Hearts of Oak seemed to be full well in control but the hosts took the lead with a well strike from Emmanuel Owusu during the 29th minute.
However, Hearts of Oak who endured a difficult campaign turned the game with 32nd minute equaliser from captain Kofi Agbesimah.
Both teams went into the half level, but Bechem United made alterations to the their set-up and looked like a different team coming out of the other side of the half.
Bismark Edjeodji scored to retake the lead for Bechem United on the 60th minute. They were not able to hold onto the lead as former Eleven Wonders defender Kelvin Osei Asibey struck to restore Hearts of Oak’s hopes of staying in the league.
Aboubakar Ouattara’s men rallied to push for the winner. Their pressure eventually paid off with the winning goal coming from Amankwa Baafi on the 74th minute.
The results means Great Olympics will join Bofoakwa Tano and RTU to play in the First Division League next season.
